The Bergen County defendants are among out-of-town buyers, and some dealers, who continue to pour into Paterson, Police Director Jerry Speziale said Wednesday.

They ranged in age from a 16-year-old Garfield boy armed with heroin and cocaine for sale to a 57-year-old Hackensack woman caught with a small bag of marijuana.

The ride by car was barely a half-hour for Giovanni Zarro, 33, and Matthew Albanese, 29, of Cliffside Park, who Speziale said were caught with 31 folds of heroin at 11th Avenue and East 37th Street in the middle of the afternoon on March 28 as part of an ongoing anti-drug initiative by city police.

Also busted on 11th Avenue a day later was Devaughne Galver, 27, who the director said had two knotted bags of marijuana for sale near Public School #21 and $676 in cash.

Those arrested last Thursday as part of the ongoing initiative included Joshua Cree, 37, of River Edge, who was charged with carrying 21 heroin folds that Speziale said he bought from Paterson's Nathaniel Brunson, 27, who was arrested on drug-selling charges, near both Public School #6 and Barbour Park.

Arrested on charges this past Monday on Park Avenue near the Panther Academy and Juan Pablo Duarte Park were three people.

Cesar Antonio Parras-Ponce, 30, of Waldwick, was found carrying two bags of powdered cocaine that he bougth from William Batista, 29, who was also charged, Speziale said.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old Garfield who the director said had 30 folds of heroin, seven baggies of cocaine and seven vials of cocaine, all for sale.

One of the larger busts -- also an 11th Avenue arrest -- involved 28-year-old Louis Rodriguez of Paterson, who Speziale said was caught with 230 folds of heroin for sale near Rosa Parks High School.
