The family was on an extended stay in their native Turkey when 24-year-old Kazim Uyaroglu "walked into a police station there and told the cops he was there illegally with an expired visa," attorney Marie Gesualdi said.

Uyaroglu -- who has mental health issues and apparently had stopped taking his medication -- was sent to a detention center after authorities verified that the visa was expired, she said.

He was then shipped back to the U.S., with an escort, arriving at JFK Airport in Queens on Jan. 15. That's the last he was seen.

"No one knows where he is," Gesualdi said. "He has no money. No clothes. No phone. Nothing.

"His mother is beside herself, as youmight imagine. No one has heard from him."

A missing persons report was filed and Port Authority police -- who patrol the airport -- were notified, Gesualdi said.

Hospitals were being checked, she said.

Uyaroglu who played soccer for Cliffside Park High School and Montclair State University, is 5-foot-11 and 125 pounds.

He was wearing a grey Northface coat and "may appear emotionally distraught and paranoid," Gesualdi said. "He is most likely wandering the streets.

"He walks slowly and has missing hair on top of scalp and back of his head from a burn injury. Skin grafting was in the process to cover the missing hair.

"Please keep a lookout for him," Gesualdi said. "Help find my friend's son."
