The 47-year-old tenant was released on her own recognizance pending a Feb. 21 Municipal Court hearing, police said this afternoon.

Officers set up a perimeter around the apartment building where the woman lives and brought in the Bergen County Police Department’s K9 to search the area after receiving the call yesterday.

And although they had their doubts, they wanted to talk to her first.

(CLIFFVIEW PILOT in turn, withheld a report until they could.)

Earlier today, the woman came to Bogota police headquarters to provide a statement.

“During the course of the interview there were some inconsistencies in her story and she was questioned further,” Detective Geoffrey Cole said.

“After further questioning, she disclosed that she was not robbed at her apartment and that she had made the story up due to emotional and psychological issues.”

The woman, who was taken out of her house by emergency medical personnel, was admitted to Holy Name Hospital for an evaluation.

Given the nature of the incident, CLIFFVIEW PILOT isn’t identifying her.
