“Two of them took off as our officers were arriving, but we got two others,” Detective Capt. James Sepp said.

Police rushed to the Wells Fargo branch on Main Street after receiving a call from an employee just before 1:30 p.m., Sepp said.

Detective Sgt. Jonathan Misskerg took Chastity Allen, 31 (above, left), and Raven Thomas, 24 (above, right), into custody moments later, with assistance from Sgt. Craig Lynch and Officer Devin Rivera.

Both were being held on $15,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail, charged with theft by deception, passing bad checks and forgery.

Detectives believe the four women are part of a group out of the Bronx that “steals people’s accounts, makes up phony checks and goes throughout New Jersey and cashes them,” Sepp said.

“The identities of the suspects who fled is currently under investigation and arrests are anticipated in the near future,” he said. “The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.”
