Go to: BERGEN COUNTY Boards & Commissions
It’s part of an ongoing 2013 overall of the county website, which Donovan said aims to “improve transparency” in government.
Current and past county budgets have been at www.co.bergen.us since 2011, when Kathleen Donovan was elected County Executive.
This, she said, allows taxpayers “to be able to view the county budget from the comfort of their home or office and to more fully understand how their money is being spent.
“An informed electorate makes for better government.”
The administrative code posted on the site outlines the respective powers and duties of each branch of county government and, according to Donovan, “maintains the checks and balances between the county executive and the seven-member freeholder board.
“There are nearly 40 different county boards that deal with a variety of cultural, health, environmental and planning issues,” she said.
Anyone interested in serving on a board is asked to contact Donovan’s office: (201) 336-7300.
“We invite people with time and expertise to apply to serve on one of the many boards which county officials rely on to help us make decisions,” the county executive said.
