Pasta Night on Friday, Sept. 16 runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the borough VFW Hall, 241 West Shore Avenue.

Bogota's FOP Lodge 161 -- a non-profit union compromised of retired and active law enforcement officers -- "relies on these fundraisers in order to keep funds up to support community projects and requests for assistance," Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said.

"In the years since its inception, the FOP has donated money to community organizations, to Bogota school sports and for college scholarships for local students," he said.

"Recently our lodge has seen a decrease in resident support from our fundraising mailers, mainly because people are afraid of scams and do not know how to donate any other way," Cole said. "But we need their support in order to continue to provide to others who need it."

If you want to go to the event or donate to the FOP, simply ask any Bogota police officer, he said.
