One vehicle struck another, sparking the chain-reaction crash, outside Macagna Funeral Home around 9:20 a.m., police said.

A funeral procession was to begin for Sal Luppino, a self-employed contractor who coached sports in Fort Lee and Englewood Cliffs and was the annual feast president of the St. Rocco Society in Fort Lee. Luppino, 40, died last Wednesday of cancer.

The driver of the car that was believed to have caused the crash was injured but refused medical attention, police said.

Fort Lee police also responded because a borough vehicle was struck.
