Eyerman died Sunday night. He was 73.
Born in Jersey City, Eyerman was a special education specialist in New Jersey and New York for more than 47 years, working with youngsters from kindergarten through 8th grade.
He also operated Chiropractic Health Arts in Palisades Park for more than 38 years.
Eyerman was a longtime trustee and former president of the Ridgefield Board of Education and helped developed a magnet school program for students with autism.
Eyerman served variously as dean of students and director of admissions, counseling and development at New York Chiropractic College. He was also an assistant professor at schools in New Jersey and Connecticut.
He was graduated from Ridgefield Memorial High School and went on to earn his cachelors and master's degree in special education from what was then Jersey City State College. Eyerman obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at New York Chiropractic College in 1976.
Eyerman is survived by his wife, Dianne and children -- Lee Eyerman of Boise, ID, Dr. Luke Eyerman with his wife, Wendy, of Leonia, Brian Eyerman, with his wife, Kara, of Maywood, and Kelly Eyerman Morris with her husband Thomas, of Saddle River -- as well as grandchildren, Alexandra, Anastasia, and Emily Eyerman and Thomas and John Edmund Morris. Also surviving are sisters Melody Eyerman with her husband Joseph Fiscella, Priscilla Finster, and Scott Eyerman.
Eyerman was been predeceased by his brother, Gerald, and brother-in-law James Finster.
Visiting hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Frank Patti Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Fort Lee.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday to attend the 10 a.m. funeral Mass, followed by interment in George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus.
