Despite a study that found General Electric Co.'s 6-year project will not reduce the amount of PCBs in fish in the lower Hudson River, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has opted out of supporting an effort to help clean governmental agencies river, NorthJersey.com reports.

The contamination has delayed dredging from some boat basins along the Palisades and caused New Jersey to enforce strict restrictions on eating fish caught in the Hudson, NorthJersey.com says.

New Jersey has been withdrawn from the issue for more than a decade, NorthJersey.com says.
