The $154,000 comes from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which is targeted and administered by the Bergen County Division of Community Development.

The Cliffside Park Little League Field, located at 758 Harvard Place, is utilized by the Cliffside Park/Fairview Baseball Association to host numerous softball and little league baseball games.

Planned improvements under this grant include new fencing and netting, asphalt paths, replacement of grates, permanent trash receptacles, a new scoreboard, installation of new lighting and a new backstop, refurbishment of the dugouts, and new benches. This continues upgrades that begin in 2016 under an Open Space Trust Fund grant.

“I am happy that through our Community Development division, we can make these much-needed improvements to Cliffside Park’s Little League field,” said Freeholder Mary Amoroso, who serves as the Freeholder liaison to Community Development.

“Through these upgrades we can provide even greater opportunities for children from Cliffside Park and Fairview to learn valuable lessons of teamwork, sportsmanship, physical wellness, and recreation.”
