Animal Control Officer From Edgewater Who Sliced Fawn's Throat Fined $3,500

EDGEWATER, N.J. — A state animal control officer from Edgewater who slit the throat of a baby deer and killed it will have to pay a $3,500 to the NJSPA as restitution, NJ.com reports.

Vincent Ascolese, 50, plead guilty to disorderly persons charges related to the animal's death, the story says.

In November 2015, Ascolese was charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty after using blood draining as a method of euthanasia that isn't approved in the state to kill the baby fawn.

At the time, Ascolese was the director and supervising animal control officer at the North Jersey Humane Society Shelter in Bloomfield.
