"Everyone who works here is a mom, and the children help us choose the toys,” MyKinder Club owner Lénica Gutierrez Bujalil told Daily Voice.
Bujalil's kindergartener was one of a half-dozen children roaming between playrooms with their mothers and caretakers. They pieced together puzzles or played in rooms with dragon and under-the-sea themes, all housed in the second floor of a complex off River Road.
Bujalil opened the business after being unable to find one like it nearby. Her mother helped her decorate.
Bujalil fills in as one of the puppeteers several times a month. Later in November, she is sharing some her culture with a Russian Thanksgiving.
“We emphasize enjoying international cultures, developing fine-motor skills, and having fun," she said. "Diwali, the Indian holiday is coming. We will celebrate that.”
“I heard about this place through a friend,” said Guttenberg resident Sonya Moroz, who brought her 17-month-old daughter, Chloe. "I think she likes it -- all these new toys and gadgets.”
Moroz said she's thankful for an outlet once the dreary winter weather settles in.
“It’s nice to have the option of bringing the kids to a clean place,” she said.
The play center is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Walk-in open sessions start at $12 for two-hours with accompanying adults. Space for weekend birthday parties is available, beginning at $295.
