Cliffside Park Weight Lifter Trains For Junior National Competition

CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. -- A junior at Cliffside Park High School is one three Bergen County high school athletes in 20 years who will compete in the USAW Junior National Weightlifting Championship in June, reports northjersey.com.

Francescoli Valdez will head to Austin June 25 after placing in the top 15. He also competed in his first National Weightlifting Championship, reports northjersey.com.

He will compete against the best 16- and 17-year-olds in the country, reports northjersey.com.

A former soccer player, Valdez competed against other weightlifters up to 20 years old in the Junior National Weightlifting Championship, reports northjersey.com.
