This is the first year the youth group is hosting the "Holiday Family Fun Day and Gingerbread Event." From noon until 4 p.m., families can build gingerbread houses, decorate ornaments and listen to music, among other things at the YMCA of Greater Bergen County, 360 Main St., Hackensack.

The gingerbread house kits cost $20 each, and supplies are limited. They're asking families interested in building a gingerbread house to send an e-mail to bergenyouthunited@gmail.com ahead of time to reserve a kit. Gingerbread kits also can be ordered pre-assembled.

The event will feature home-baked goods, hot chocolate, cider, face painting and live music. For details, visit the Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County website.
