Powder Horn Belonging To Alexander Hamilton Goes To Auction In New Jersey

Alexander Hamilton fans will be able to purchase part of history, when a rare, centuries-old cow powder horn he owned goes up for auction on Monday, Jan. 11, by Sterling Associates in Closter, according to NJ.com.

Engraved with Hamilton's name, the year 1773, and the words "First when when (sic) came to Ohio, the horn also has some images, including a unicorn. It belongs to Warren Richman, a Clifton dentist, who received the horn from a patient and has had the piece authenticated by a Hamilton descendant, an appraiser and a handwriting expert, said NJ.com.

Stephen D'Atri, owner of Sterling Associates, the company auctioning the horn, said Hamilton would have carried it everywhere but there is no way to know if he was carrying the horn in Weekhawken during his fatal duel with Aaron Burr in 1804.
