Zumba Fitness Instructors Bring Caribbean To Bogota

BOGOTA, N.J. — A local Zumba Fitness instructor is bringing the Caribbean to Bogota.

Marissa Tonge of Maywood is teaming up with guest instructor Travis Algarin for Carib-Carnival Zumba on Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Bogota VFW.

The class will feature Soca, dancehall, samba and salsa routines.

Tonge hopes her class will bond guests for life.

"Zumba brings together the community," the Englewood native said. "You dance and act crazy with people who you may have just met but at the end of the class, you feel a connection with everyone in the room.

"You find yourself getting lost in the music and into your happy place without even realizing that you're really exercising," she added. "No one can take that away from you."

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

The Bogota VFW is located at 241 W. Shore Ave.
