Early childhood and parenthood educator and expert Lisa Fay will lead an Infant-Parent Educational Series at Wilton’s Montessori School, 34 Whipple Road.

Classes run from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays from Oct. 13 to Dec. 2 and on Thursdays from Oct. 15 to Dec. 10. Each series will include an evening orientation on Oct. 8 and one in-depth seminar from 7 to 8 p.m on Nov. 5.

Fay will discuss the importance of movement, language, care of the self and independence with sleeping and eating. Other lessons include preparing home environments that foster a young child’s curiosity and independence, while meeting cognitive and physical needs. Parents will also learn to observe their babies in an intentional way to foster their independent growth and support them in realizing their enormous potential, said the school in a statement.

“While books can offer some guidance for parents on how to meet the needs of their children, the work of development belongs to the child alone,” said Fay in a statement. “Most people think elementary school is when children begin to learn tenacity, initiative, independence and a love of work. In fact, these are qualities learned and honed from birth, and parents can help foster them.”

Cost for the series is $275 and includes orientation, one in-depth evening seminar and eight morning classes. Additional classes will be held in January/February as well as in March/April.
