Joseph K. Cole, 47, Worked For Salem City Schools, 'Enjoyed Fishing'
Joseph Kenneth Cole, of Carneys Point, died on Thursday, Jan. 18, according to an obituary published by Adams Funeral Home. He was 47 years old. Born in Woodbury and raised in Pedricktown, Joe was a 1994 graduate of Penns Grove High School, his obituary said. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Joe worked for the Salem City School District for the last 10 years as their district plumber. "Joe really enjoyed fishing and hunting and he loved going to Maine," his obit said. An Atlantic County animal rehabilitation center is helping a baby seal recover after it was found on a beach in Monmouth County. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said a male grey seal pup was first seen resting on a beach in Sea Bright late in the afternoon on Thursday, Jan. 11. The seal was observed overnight and after staying on the shore through the morning, he was brought to the rehab center in Brigantine on Friday, Jan. 12. A month-old gray seal pup is recovering after being found on the beach in Avalon in Cape May County, officials said. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said the pup was still covered in his white birthing coat after being discovered at the 48th Street beach. In an effort to end the "puppy mill pipeline," New York has banned pet stores from selling dogs, cats, and rabbits. An 18-year-old boy died and his 17-year-old sister was rescued when sand collapsed in on them while they were digging at a New Jersey beach Tuesday, May 17, authorities said.
