Unidentified Flying Objects Over Cape May Explained By FAA, Sheriff's Cape May County residents were abuzz with curiosity after an unexplained air show of small planes. The Cape May County Sheriff’s Office tried to calm public speculation about the sightings at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 by issuing this statement on Facebook: “We have received inquiries in reference to several small planes following each other in a flight path from Cape May Airport (WWD) to around the Ocean View area of the county and back, We have learned that this is a part of an FAA study of new airport lighting.
