Police ID Homeowner Killed In North Wildwood Fire Authorities have identified the Cape May County resident killed in a house fire. Joanne Nessen died of possible asphyxia from the fire at her home in North Wildwood, NJ on Thursday, July 6, according to Cape May County Prosecutor, Jeffrey H. Sutherland and North Wildwood Police Chief John Stevenson. Authorities received a call at 4:16 p.m. reporting a person trapped in a burning home at 2203 New York Avenue in North Wildwood, according to city Fire Chief Dominick McClain. Resident Killed In South Jersey House Fire A Cape May County resident died of injuries from a house fire, authorities said. Authorities received a call at 4:16 p.m. Thursday, July 6 reporting a person trapped in a burning home at 2203 New York Avenue in North Wildwood, according to city Fire Chief Dominick McClain. Within minutes of arrival, firefighters found a person in a rear bedroom of the home.  The victim, who was not identified, was removed through a side window and taken to Cape Regional Medical Center, McClain said.
