Here's Who Got The Most Snow In South Jersey From Winter Storm Some parts of South Jersey received more than half a foot of snow during a pre-Valentine's Day winter storm. The National Weather Service said snow stopped falling in the region at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13. While it wasn't as much as North Jersey, plenty of communities saw significant accumulation. Feds: Jersey Shore Dealer Convicted Of Selling Cocaine, Crack In Monmouth, Ocean Counties An ex-con was convicted in federal court of selling cocaine and crack along the Jersey Shore, authorities said. Damion “Checks” Helmes, 42, of Cliffwood was the last of 20 defendants convicted of peddling the drug throughout Monmouth County and into Ocean County. Jurors in U.S. District Court in Trenton found Helmes guilty of various drug-dealing charges while acquitting him of two gun offenses following a two-week trial. Helmes had already done time following a drug and gun bust in Keansburg in 2004, records show. Initially busted by the locals, Helmes was charged federally by the FBI’s …

Union Beach Officer Killed When He Struck Telephone Pole An off-duty Union Beach police officer was killed when he struck a telephone pole, authorities said.  Detective Cpl. Timothy Kelly, Jr., 29, died in the crash.  He was described as a "rising star"  by his department.  The single motor vehicle crash occurred at 1:57 a.m. on Sunday, July 17 on State Highway 36 West just past Grand Avenue, according to Atlantic Highlands police.  Police found a 2010 Honda Civic which had crashed into a telephone pole.  Police attempted lifesaving efforts but the driver was pronounced dead at the crash scene by paramedics. …

Union Beach Officer Killed In Crash Was 'Rising Star' The Union Beach Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Detective Cpl. Timothy Kelly, Jr., 29, died in an off-duty crash, his department said. His father also served as a UBPD officer. "Kelly was a rising star in the Union Beach Police Department, having been involved in many high profile and sensitive special operations with the FBI, DEA, MCPO, and BTF," UBPD said.  He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Alabama with a double major in History and Criminal Justice.  Details in the crash were not immediately clear.

Husky Frightened By Fireworks Rescued 1.5 Miles Off Jersey Shore (Photos) A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner.
