: Plate Indentation Helps Police In North Jersey ID Hit-And-Run Vehicle
A motorist literally made an impression that helped Glen Rock police crack a hit-and-run crash that injured another driver, authorities said. A 48-year-old borough man had stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk on Rock Road just east of Main Street when his 2012 Honda Accord was rear-ended by a black Jeep that fled the scene, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening after the 6:42 p.m. crash last Thursday, Oct. 20, the chief said. Meanwhile, Officer Andrew Magro investigated the crash …

Commuter Accused Of Pulling Knife On NJT Conductor Seized After Hour-Long Standoff In Glen Rock
A commuter accused of pulling a knife on an NJ Transit conductor in Glen Rock who asked him to wear a mask was seized following an hour-long standoff at an acquaintance's home, police said. Keith Toussaint, 49, of the Bronx was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon under a state law that carries more severe penalties because the alleged victim is a front-line transportation worker. The Port Jervis Line conductor told Glen Rock police who responded to the borough train station shortly before 10:30 a.m. that Touissant had "become confrontational" and allegedly threatened her with a k…

Glen Rock PD: Hit-Run Motorist From Ridgewood Drives Battered Sedan On Sparking Rim After Crash
Sparks flew after an unlicensed Ridgewood hit-and-run driver struck a utility pole in Glen Rock with his muscle car and sped off on three wheels and a rim, authorities said. Christopher Loehwing, 49, parked the smashed-up Charger in a shopping center lot outside his apartment more than a mile away following Wednesday night’s crash, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Loehwing told officers who found him that he’d hit the pole after swerving to avoid a fox. He said he’d planned to call them about it before they showed up. Moments earlier, a group of witnesses reported seeing Loehwing’s 2010 …

PD Called After NJ Man Shouts At Asian Customer That Chinese Caused COVID
A 70-year-old Glen Rock man straddled the line between free speech and harassment, police said, when he stood behind an Asian-American woman at a CVS checkout counter and shouted that the Chinese Communist Party "caused COVID." "That’s why we’re wearing these masks,” the man reportedly yelled, bringing police to the Rock Road store. He yelled this several times, said the woman, who “felt threatened [because] she was the only Asian individual in the immediate area,” Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A witness corroborated her account, he added. Interviewed by police, the man said that he …

Police Seize Glen Rock High School Senior For Racial, Gender Bias On Instagram, Zoom
Detectives were investigating racially biased Instagram posts by a Glen Rock High School student when the teenage bigot struck again, this time targeting another classmate over gender identity on Zoom, authorities said. Detectives were a month into their investigation of racial bias when administrators at the high school showed them “questionable comments” entered during a school Zoom session, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. The comment “appeared to target another student over their gender identity,” the chief said Monday. Using information provided by the teenage victims and the school’…
