Man Kills Mom In Cape May County: Prosecutor A 46-year-old man is accused killing his mom in Cape May County, authorities said. Jeffrey Surgent called the Ocean City Police Department saying he suffers from mental illness and he just killed his mom just before 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said. Alston's mother said he has a mental illness and has tended to wander but often returned soon after. Zakiiy Carson, 37, on Tuesday pleaded guilty but mentally ill to two counts of murder in the third degree in the 2018 shooting deaths of Latricia Ezell and Ashley Campfield, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin.
