Authorities are investigating a Jersey Shore shooting that left a victim with a bullet fragment in his face.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Berkeley Township Police Chief Karin DiMichele said that a shooting occurred about 3 p.m. on Monday in the Manitou Park section of Berkeley Township.

Berkeley Township police responded to a residence on Third Avenue after a 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired in the area.

Officers found a 29 year-old man with a bullet fragment in his face. The victim was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was treated for his injuries and released, according to Billhimer and DiMichele.

They did not release anymore details about the shooting including a possible motive.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit at 732-929-2027, extension 2476, or Detective Michael Riccardelli of the Berkeley Township Police Department at 732-341-1132, extension 2153
