Philly Area Man Charged With Trying To Kill Mom On Thanksgiving: Police A 42-year-old suburban Philadelphia man has been charged with trying to kill his mom on Thanksgiving authorities said. Michael D. Giffing is accused of assaulting his mom, Dorothy Giffing, around 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, West Chester police said. Authorities responded to the home on the 300 Block of W. Ashbridge Street on reports of an unconscious person who had fallen, police said. While en route , the call was upgraded to a possible cardiac arrest.  The injuries that Dorothy suffered were not consistent with a fall, authorities said. 10-Year-Old Boy Choked By Uncle During Argument In Suburban Philly: Police A Chester County man was arrested after police say he assaulted his nephew. A 10-year-old boy told officers that his uncle, Stephen M. Reese, 35, of West Chester, had choked him during an argument inside a home on the 300 block of Fox Hollow Lane around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, West Chester police said. The victim claimed he was not able to breathe for a short period of time. Reese was then arrested and charged with strangulation and simple assault, police said.  He was remanded to Chester County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail, records show.

Smiley PA Driver Charged With DUI A Pennsylvania man didn't seem too upset about his recent arrest based on his mugshot Jonathan Shaffer, of Phoenixville, beams in the photo after West Chester police charged him for DUI. Shaffer, 25, was pulled over around 2:30 a.m. on May 3, when police saw spotted him driving erratically on the 400 Block of E. Market St. in the city, they said. Shaffer showed signs of impairment, and following an investigation, he was charged with impaired driving. A preliminary hearing was pending at District Court 15-1-04.
