Despite a recall notice and multiple warnings from the Food and Drug Administration, Dollar Tree continued to sell applesauce pouches containing lead for weeks, federal officials say. Stop & Shop To Close Underperforming Stores In Northeast
The future is grim for Stop & Shop's underperforming stores in the Northeast. A major retailer primarily located in malls and headquartered in Pennsylvania is set to close all 543 of its stores following its third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Macy's plans to close about 30 percent of its remaining stores over the next three years. Another former Kmart store is being replaced by a new Target store -- this time in Atlantic County. The newest Target to land in Somers Point is set to open this month in, NJ.com says citing news reports. Kmart vacated its anchor store at Somers Point Plaza, a popular shopping center off of Route 9. Target Corp also has plans to replace a shuttered Kmart store in Wall, Monmouth County, and Kearney in Hudson County. Ocean State Job Lot, a chain of discount stores, announced it is hiring new employees at a South Jersey store set to open by the end of the year. Ocean State Job Lot, with 146 stores across the Northeast, is preparing to open a new store in Princeton. The Sears at Rockaway Town Square Mall is just one of many that will soon close permanently in yet another Coronavirus-related blow to the brick-and-mortar retail landscape. Walmart In Freehold, North Bergen Closed Friday
Walmart closed its Freehold and North Bergen stores Friday for sanitization and restocking, reports say. The stores will reopen Saturday, April 18 with associate health screenings and temperature checks, NorthJersey.com reports. All workers will be given face masks and gloves, too.
