A dump truck overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16 southbound north of Interchange 7 (Route 206) in Chesterfield Township, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Tolls On Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike Rising For 3rd Consecutive Year
Tolls will increase on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway for a third consecutive year. The 3 percent toll hikes were originally approved in 2020. The latest hike was adopted on Tuesday, Oct. 25 as part of the 2023 budget, according to New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman Thomas Feeney. The $2.5 billion 2023 Turnpike Authority budget increased by 7.4% over 2022. The increase was attributed to “pressures on discretionary travel and costs due to an inflation rate of 8.3%, a level not seen in 40 years," the authority said in a memo. Nearly 36,000 drivers were overcharged by E-ZPass at a toll plaza on the Garden State Parkway last month, officials said. Since Sept. 20, nearly every vehicle in one particular lane had been classified as a truck at the Great Egg Harbor toll plaza in Somers Point, a spokesman for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority said. The Atlantic Service Area on the Garden State Parkway in Galloway has been renamed in honor of Frank Sinatra, a native of Hoboken, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. The name change became official on Thursday, April 21 when “Frank Sinatra Service Area” signs were installed on the Parkway. Gov. Phil Murphy announced last year that Parkway service areas would be renamed to honor New Jersey Hall of Fame inductees in the arts, entertainment, and sports. Busy Garden State Parkway Exit Ramps Will Close For 9 Months
Two ramps of the Garden State Parkway, at Exit 105, will close in April for nine months of upgrades, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced. A northbound entrance ramp and a southbound exit ramp in Tinton Falls will completely shut down on April 18 as a contractor replaces the decks, beams and parapets of three bridges, the authority said in a news statement. Lawnmower Rolls On Top Of Worker Cutting Grass On Garden State Parkway In Burlington County
A worker cutting grass along the Garden State Parkway was flown to the hospital after a lawnmower rolled down an embankment and landed on top of him in Burlington County Monday morning, authorities said. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority worker lost control of the commercial-grade lawnmower he was riding near milepost 55.9 around 8:40 a.m. in Bass River, State Police said. He was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus in Atlantic City, a NJSP spokesperson said. The incident remains under investigation.

Huge Toll Hikes Coming: Up 36% On NJ Turnpike, 27% On Garden State Parkway
Toll prices on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will increase dramatically beginning Sept. 13.
