Driver Killed In Crash With Pickup Truck In South Jersey An 84-year-old man was killed when his car was hit by a pickup truck in Burlington County, authorities said. Rodger Carney of Medford was turning left from westbound Tuckerton Road onto Marquette Drive when a pickup truck traveling east struck his vehicle at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Medford police said. The pickup truck was driven by Gregory Girard, 40, of Shamong, who suffered a minor injury, police said. Carney was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where he was pronounced dead. No charges had been filed in the crash which remained under investigation.

Man Caused False Public Alarm Trying To Get Into South Jersey High School: Police A man was arrested after trying to enter multiple doors of the Burlington County Institute of Technology in Medford, authorities said. There was heightened concern after a K-9 detected possible explosives in the van he drove to campus, Medford police said on Facebook. A search of the van and high school turned up nothing dangerous, police said. They turned out to be construction materials including sealants. Gregory T. Victim Hit With Grizzly Bear Spray In South Jersey Shopping Center Robbery: Police A masked robber shot grizzly bear pepper spray at another man while stealing his wallet and cell phone at a shopping center in Burlington County, authorities said. The robbery occurred Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 10:21 p.m. on Tuckerton Road in the Village of Taunton Forge, Medford police said. The prepper spray is designed to fend off aggressive bears. The victim had trouble breathing, police said. Firefighters Battle Serious Blaze In Burlington County: Developing Firefighters were battling a serious fire in Burlington County, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The fire broke out before 6 p.m. on the 100 block of Taunton Boulevard in Medford Township, initial reports said.  A medical helicopter was called to airlift a victim who had been trapped by the blaze, according to an unconfirmed report.
