The body of a 33-year-old man was recovered from a privately-owned tract of land in New Jersey that rose to popularity during the pandemic on TikTok. Edwin Toro-Mejia "unlawfully" visited the 7,000-acre Heritage Mineral property and was trying to swim with others around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, Manchester police said in a news release. Wildfire Spreads To 3,800 Acres In Ocean County
UPDATED: Residents in Ocean County were allowed to return to their homes after a wildfire was 60 percent contained Wednesday, April 12. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service made substantial progress in Manchester Township fighting the fire that destroyed 3,859 acres. The Jimmy’s Waterhole Fire had only been 10 percent contained as of 1:30 a.m., and 75 structures were threatened. That number dropped to 20 structures by noon Wednesday. Lightning Strike Fire Engulfs Jersey Shore Home
UPDATE: A lightning strike Wednesday ignited a fire that destroyed a Jersey Shore home and killed several pets. Two cats, a bird and several reptiles died in the Beckerville Road fire, which broke out in the 1½-story ranch house shortly before 3 p.m., Manchester Township police said. Responders included firefighters from Whiting, Manchester, Ridgeway, Forked River, Lakehurst, Cassville and Whitesville, as well as Manchester Township EMS and police. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross found temporary lodging and provided supplies to the family.
