Services have been set for Dennis John Frick, of Freehold Township, who died in a crash on Route 1 Wednesday, March 6. He was 65 years old. Visitation is on Sunday, March 10 for Dennis, who became a senior vice president with Heller Construction where he worked for 35 years, according to his obituary published by Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home. The funeral liturgy is on Monday at noon at St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold. Dennis was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1977 to 1981 aboard the USS Preserver, his obit said. Jersey Shore Boardwalks Get $100M For 'Vital' Upgrades
Jersey Shore communities are getting $100 million in state grants to make crucial repairs to their boardwalk, officials said. The Boardwalk Preservation Fund money will go to 18 municipalities in Atlantic, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties, Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Friday, Feb. 23. The state Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) will give out the funds to invest in "state-of-the-art materials that increase storm resiliency and ensure longer lasting infrastructure." While many parts of the Jersey Shore won't see snow, a winter storm is expected to bring some issues right before Valentine's Day, forecasters said. Cape May-Lewes Ferry Raises Vehicle Fees, Improves Loyalty Rewards Program
Taking a vehicle on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry this summer is going to come with a price. A higher one. The commission for the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) approved a new fare schedule for the ferry, the DRBA announced on Monday, Feb. 5. The new rates will go into effect on Monday, Apr. 1. In-season fares for standard vehicles and motorcycles will go up by $1. Fares will go up by $2 for vehicles 26 to 45 feet long, and $3 for vehicles longer than 46 feet. The "no show" fee will also increase from $10 to $26 to get more people to cancel or modify a booking instead of abandoning it.…

Missing NJ Boater Reunited With Family After Week Adrift
A boater out of Jersey City was reunited with his family last week after he went missing sailing to Bermuda, the Coast Guard said. No one had heard from the mariner since Monday, Nov. 6, and the Coast Guard Atlantic Area command center began a search and rescue effort, the Coast Guard said. Another ship, the Time Bandit, heard an alert, and on Wednesday, Nov. 15, found a vessel that matched the description of the missing boat, the Coast Guard said. Cape May residents will get their final view of a once-towering coal-burning power plant when the smokestack of the former B.L. England power plant is imploded later this month. Fugitive Arrested In Atlantic City Stabbing: Police
A tip led to the arrest of a 32-year-old fugitive in an Atlantic City stabbing, authorities said. Anthony Mincey of Atlantic City was wanted in connection with an Aug. 16 stabbing in which a 29-year-old man from Cape May was seriously injured, police said. Mincey was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Woman Hit Child With Skee-Ball At Jersey Shore Arcade: Police
Cape May police seek the public's help in identifying the woman in the white dress. She was involved in a disagreement with another patron of the arcade. Tornado Watch In Effect For South Jersey
A tornado watch is in effect for 10 counties in New Jersey until 11 p.m. Monday Aug. 7, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado watch includes Mercer, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties, the NWS said. Also, the tornado warning was extended to Hunterdon and Warren counties. There also is a watch for severe thunderstorms from Cumberland County north to Trenton. A slighter chance of thunderstorms exists along the Jersey Shore.

A petite but potent jellyfish is hiding in New Jersey waters, naturalists warn. The Clinging Jellyfish, officially dubbed the Gonionemus vertens, was collected last month by naturalist Naturalist Jesse Amesbury at Skimmer Tours during a trip in the Cape May area.
