'Floating Classroom': New Jersey's Official Tall Ship To Sail From Cape May Twice This Summer
If you're going to Cape May this summer, you could be able to ride on New Jersey’s official tall ship. The A.J. Meerwald will sail from the Cape May Ferry Terminal between Wednesday, June 26, and Sunday, July 7, the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) said in a news release. The ship will return on Friday, Aug. 2 to offer public sailing and programming through Thursday, Sept. 12. NJ High School Hockey Player Collin Zavoda Dies, 15
Collin Zavoda, a 15-year-old student athlete at Bridgewater High School died unexpectedly on Monday, June 10, according to a campaign launched for his family. A native of Edison, Zavoda moved to Bridgewater in 2013 and was active in the community, playing baseball and hockey, his obituary on the Bridgewater Funeral Home website reads. An avid hockey fan, Collin also worked as a hockey referee, according to his obituary and helped lead his club hockey team to a championship. One boater remained missing and two others were rescued after a boat capsized in the rough waters of Manasquan Inlet, authorities said. The U.S. Coast Guard was using a helicopter out of Atlantic City and a C-130 cargo plane out of North Carolina to assist in the search off of Point Pleasant, the Coast Guard said on Friday, Sept. 15. A 47-foot motor lifeboat from Manasquan Inlet also was searching the waters. 4 'Incredibly Lucky' Boaters Rescued Off Gloucester County: US Coast Guard
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued four people after their 12-foot vessel became disabled in the Delaware River near Chester Island, Gloucester County, authorities said. The owner and operator of the aluminum boat contacted watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay command center on Sunday, July 30. They said they were not wearing lifejackets and two of the people aboard were teenagers, ages 14 and 18, the Coast Guard said. Coast Guard Helicopter Crew Rescues Fishermen From Burning Boat Off Jersey Shore
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two fishermen after their boat caught fire approximately 34 miles off the Jersey Shore Thursday (click here for video). Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a mayday call from one of the fishermen on the 53-foot Sport Fisher boat "Reel E Bugging," saying their engines were engulfed in flames and they needed immediate assistance.
