Firefighters were battling a 5,000-acre wildfire in Bass River State Forest, they said. The Garden State Parkway had been closed in both directions between milepost 63 in Ocean County and milepost 38 in Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic County, N ew Jersey State Police said on Friday, June 2.
