An 82-year-old man is believed to have accidentally shot and killed his wife in Edison. Robert Novak was in a room on the first floor of the Glencourt Avenue home he shared with his 76-year-old wife, Patricia Novak, when he tried to clear one of his registered guns around 2:10 p.m. Friday, April 5, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. The weapon discharged into the basement of the home, striking Patricia, whom Robert heard scream, Ciccone said. Corrections Officer Shoots 21-Year-Old Thinking He's Under Attack In Trenton: Prosecutor
A New Jersey corrections officer shot a 21-year-old woman in Trenton on March 18 after the rear window of his vehicle was inexplicably shattered, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said. The corrections officer thought he was being shot at, but it turned out that a thrown paint can had broken his window, the prosecutor said. The incident occurred on the 500 block of Bellevue Avenue at about 12:20 a.m. The injured woman was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.

An 18-year-old man playing with a gun accidentally shot his friend in South Jersey, authorities said. Jah-son Jones, of Pemberton, was at 19-year-old Nasiah Carson's home on South Coles Avenue in Maple Shade, when the two were playing with a handgun that they thought was unloaded, and Jones pointed it at Carson squeezed the trigger around 3:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. A 3-year-old child was airlifted to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself with a firearm in Suburban Philadelphia over the weekend, authorities said. The toddler was struck once in the lower abdomen while in a black Dodge Durango, parked in the Caln Plaza shopping center around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 30, local police said. A 4-year-old boy from Pittsburgh has died after shooting himself in the face, according to police. The boy was identified by family members to CBS2 as Ajani Lane. His mom, Nay Lane, mourned his loss on Facebook. Police were called to a home in the 500 block of North Negley in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood around 8 a.m., according to a statement by the police. The boy was transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where he later died, police said. There was a caregiver present in the home at the time of the shooting, according to police.
