EMS crews responded to 198 Ramblewood Parkway in Mount Laurel Township at 6:15 p.m. after neighbors reported an explosion, initial reports said.

As the child poured gas on the fire, flames traveled to the gas can, which exploded while the boy was holding it, the outlet reports citing Mount Laurel police.

The child was hospitalized at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children after a medical airlift. A parent was at the house when the incident occurred, NJ.com said. The fire was quickly doused by responding Mount Laurel firefighters.
