East Rutherford police took a report on Feb. 16, accusing Glen Conlon, 63, of making threats against a family member, East Rutherford Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone said. Investigators determined the threats referenced a rifle that Conlon owned, Yannacone said.  Conlon told police he threw the firearm into the Passaic River behind the River Renaissance Condominiums, the captain said. Update: No Hydrants Hampers Fight Against Upper Saddle River Mansion Fire At Rockland Border Nearly three dozen mutual aid companies and well over 100 firefighters helped counter a lack of area hydrants as a fast-moving blaze consumed an Upper Saddle River mansion at the Rockland County border over the weekend. No one was injured in the multi-alarm Hillside Avenue blaze, which broke out in the $2.7 million home in the north end of town shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, and instantly became fully involved, fire officials said. Dump Truck With Trailer Barrels Down Embankment Into Hawthorne Home A dump truck and equipment trailer owned by a Wayne landscaping company barreled down an embankment and crashed into a home in Hawthorne on Monday. The single-axle crew cab truck, owned by Canete Landscaping, was headed down Hillcrest Avenue around 5 p.m. when the driver said the brakes failed, responders said. After hitting a parked SUV, the truck careened down the embankment and into the rear closed-in porch of an Emeline Drive home. No injuries were reported. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue.
