An appellate court rejected the appeal of a 35-year-old man convicted of killing his 26-year-old coworker in 2019 and conspiring to additional killings while in jail, court records show. Kenneth C. Saal is serving a 45-year prison sentence for killing Carolyn Byington when she returned home to Plainsboro apartment during her lunch break in June 2019, and a 10-year consecutive sentence for conspiring to kill another young woman, records show. An 18-year-old man has died nearly a week after the Tesla he was riding in was involved in a crash, police in South Jersey said. Daniel "Danny" Hass, a student at Notre Dame High School in Lawrence Township, died Saturday, Aug. 24, his family said in a post on social media. A 25-year-old engineer from Mercer County was killed this week by a wrong-way driver in Massachusetts, where she lived and worked, police said. Geetika Guruprasad, of West Windsor, died just after 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in Littleton, a suburb of Boston. Police have identified the person who was found dead near a Route 1 car dealership on Christmas as a 31-year-old Trenton woman. Stephanie Carmody's body was found in the northbound shoulder of 3466 Route 1 — a former car dealership — around 5:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, after multiple 911 calls were placed, West Windsor police said. The WWPD Detective Bureau took over the investigation in conjunction with members of the Mercer County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force (HTF). An accomplished violinist and music teacher sexually assaulted a 12-year-old student of his in 2016, authorities announced. Dezheng Ping, 57, of Lawrence, was arrested and charged on Sept. 23 in Middlesex County, Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. They flooded Mercer County by the dozens, hailing from New York City, Long Island and Westchester County, armed with bogus debit cards. They nearly returned home with more than $250,000 stolen from Santander Bank ATMs across New Jersey.
