Route 17 Pursuit Leads To Eventual Arrest Of Hit-Run Driver, Police Say
A 50-year-old hit-and-run driver was arrested after police say he led a pursuit along Route 17 last week. Vincent Vespe, of Montvale, struck another vehicle in a white Toyota Tacoma in Wood-Ridge on Aug. 19, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Officer Kapp pursued the suspect vehicle after it refused to stop through several streets in Lyndhurst before entering Route 17 north, Auteri said. Lyndhurst officers Lt. A victim was in traumatic arrest after being ejected in a rollover evening rush-hour crash at the northern end of the Garden State Parkway, responders said. New Jersey State Police summoned a medical chopper following the crash on the southbound parkway at mile marker 166.8 Pascack Valley Toll Plaza in Washington Township shortly after 5 p.m. Given the severity of the injuries, they opted to have the unconscious, unresponsive victim taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center. Box Truck Spins, Lands On Route 287 At State Line
A box truck ended up on the median on Route 287, clogging post-Labor Day traffic at the state line, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the mishap in Mahwah shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. Three men were in the truck, which apparently was carrying exercise equipment for a Brooklyn-based freight company when it spun around in the rain and hit the divider. A delivery truck barreled off Route 17 in Paramus when its driver had a medical emergency, responders said. The Ski Barn truck ended up in a water detention area on the southbound highway just past the Garden State Parkway around 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 17. A portion of the Garden State Parkway was closed overnight Wednesday, backing up traffic for miles as firefighters battled a brush fire. Two suspects were in custody following a State Police pursuit on Route 80 Thursday morning that ended in a crash, responders said. Troopers were pursuing the vehicle on the eastbound highway -- apparently beginning in Wayne -- when it veered off at Exit 56A in Woodland Park, they said. A large truck rolled over and blocked the exit ramp from the southbound Garden State Parkway to southbound Route 17 southbound in Paramus during the post-July 4th morning rush. The Edgewood Country Club in River Vale could soon be redeveloped, paving the way for 249 housing units. Armored Car Crashes In Ridgewood
An armored car driver was hospitalized with a leg injury Saturday after the rig clipped two utility poles and struck a tree in Ridgewood. Several armed security guards and uniformed police officers stood by as currency the rig was carrying was transferred to another after the incident in the 300 block of South Maple Avenue.
