Sharks Tracked Days Apart Along Jersey Shore 'Seem To Be Buddies,' Scientist Says
It sounds like the beginning of a new shark attack movie. Simon and Jekyll are two sharks who have thoroughly have enjoyed their time together on the Jersey Shore. The pair were first tagged off the Southeast Coast of the United States in December 2022, and have since traveled nearly 4,000 miles up the East Coast in tandem. A 10-foot Great White shark surfaced off the New Jersey coast Memorial Day Weekend. Penny, who has been tracked by shark research center OCEARCH since April, surfaced several miles off of Ocean City around 6:45 a.m. Memorial Day, according to the org's shark-tracker. Penny made her way north since being tagged by OCEARCH in North Carolina just last month. She "pinged" off the coast of Maryland in mid-May and resurfaced just this weekend in New Jersey. 8-Foot Shark Still Lingering Off NJ Coast
An eight-foot white shark who surfaced off the New Jersey coast earlier this month seems to be sticking around for more Jersey Shore fun. Jekyll, who made a splash off Sea Isle City on May 8, resurfaced on May 15 in the same vicinity around 8 p.m., according to popular shark tracking and research organization, OCEARCH. Jekyll has been tracked by OCEARCH since December 2022. Jekyll spent quite some time off the coast of North Carolina before heading north along the Atlantic shoreline. 9-Foot Shark Surfaces Off NJ Coast
A nine-foot white shark pinged off of the New Jersey coast over the weekend and early this week. According to shark research center OCEARCH, the dorsal fin of Simon — who weighs 434 pounds and measures nine feet and six inches in length — surfaced several times Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1 in Ocean County. 1,000-Pound Shark Pinged Off NJ Coast
A 1,000-pound shark was tracked off the New Jersey coast last month. Ironbound, who measure 12-feet 4-inches long, was tracked April 28 in South Jersey, but as of May 9 was swimming along the shores of North Carolina. Ironbound is named after West Ironbound Island near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, where he was first tagged in 2019. He is 53 white shark SPOT-tagged by OCEARCH in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.

1,700 Pound Shark 'Pings' Off NJ Coast
A 1,700-pound shark was tracked along the New Jersey coastline earlier this week. Mahone, a white shark, was pinged off the coast of Cape May on Dec. 7 just after 10 p.m., according to shark research group OCEARCH. It was not clear how many miles Mahone was swimming off the coastline. A 183-pound white shark who took a trip to the New Jersey coast late last month is back for more summer fun. Martha, a juvenile white shark who measures approximately 7 feet long, was "pinged" just before 8 a.m., Wednesday morning.
