A Monmouth County golfer who was in high school while on the leaderboard of an LPGA major tournament's final round is returning to the event three years later. Megha Ganne qualified for the 2024 U.S. Women's Open after winning a U.S. Golf Association qualifying tournament on Monday, Apr. 15. Five From NJ Admit Pocketing $1.3M In Aircraft Equipment Scam
A crew of con artists from New Jersey admitted swindling more than $1.3 million from hundreds of businesses nationwide and abroad that thought they were buying specialized aviation equipment. The head of the operation, Antonio P. Signo, 36, of Somerset – aka "Tony Demetro" – had been the first to take a deal from prosecutors rather than face the potential consequences of a trial. Lucille Howe (McElhaney) was born in Helena, MT in 1928 to James Lewis McElhaney and Dorothy Beatrice Stapleton. She was a third-generation descendant of the original pioneers of the Helena Valley (on her father’s side) and Walla Walla, WA (on her mother’s side). And true to her roots, Lucille lived her 91½ years with a pioneering, adventurous spirit. Lucille became an angel in heaven on April 5, 2020, due to conditions related to her age and not COVID-19. NJ Woman Struck, Killed By DUI Arizona Football Player: Reports
New Jersey native Norah Bruther was struck and killed by an Arizona State University football player over the weekend, authorities said. Bruther, 23, of Sea Girt, was crossing Camelback Road in Scottsdale, AZ when she was struck by 22-year-old Sun Devil Stanley Kambert around 1 a.m. Saturday, Fox10 Phoenix reports. Bruther, a senior associate at Ernst and Young, was allegedly visiting Scottsdale at the time of the incident. A crew of con artists from New Jersey swindled more than $1 million from businesses nationwide that thought they were buying aircraft equipment and replacement parts, state authorities charged. Son Of Former Twins Manager, NJ Native Tom Kelly Found Dead In Arizona
The 42-year-old son of former New Jersey resident and Minnesota Twins manager Tom Kelly was found dead in Arizona last week. Tom Kelly, Jr. was on a golf trip when his body was found in a Scottsdale hotel room, after he missed a tee-time, TwinCities.com reports. Kelly's father grew up in Sayreville and attended Saint Mary's in South Amboy. Kelly himself was a bat boy for the Twins and attended Hill-Murray. He later served as a pitcher for St. Thomas, winning the 2001 NCAA Division III baseball title. He had been living in Tampa, Fl. working as a mortgage broker at the time of his death. …

North Jersey native and U.S. Marine William "Billy" Anthony Kumberger passed away surrounded by family at Honor Health-Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Aug. 27. He was 46 years old.
