Recycling Truck Slams Into Tree In Hawthorne
A driver told police he had "mechanical issues" that sent his recycling truck veered off the road and into a tree in Hawthorne on Tuesday. Goffle Hill Road off Grandview Avenue was temporarily closed while Citywide Towing used a heavy wrecker to remove the 2003 B&B Disposal dump truck, which crashed on a short embankment in front of a home shortly after 10 a.m. There was no immediate word on the driver's injuries. ALERT: Route 9W In Rockland To Be Closed For Repairs Saturday
A typically busy stretch of Route 9W will be closed just north of the New York State border on Saturday, authorities warned motorists in northeast Bergen and Rockland County. UPDATE: A tractor-trailer and SUV were involved in a crash Thursday afternoon that closed northbound Route 287 in Mahwah for hours and kept traffic crawling -- although just barely -- well into the evening rush. A fully involved tractor-trailer fire temporarily closed the southbound New York State Thruway near the Bergen County border Monday night. Tractor-Trailer Tips On Rt 46 Carrying Thousands Of Pounds Of Bananas
A cleanup was required after a tractor-trailer toting thousands of pounds of bananas tipped over the Route 46 (Routes 1&9) median Thursday near the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee. Only it wasn’t the fruit that spilled. It was a large amount of fuel from the saddle tanks. The highway was closed in both directions following the 11:30 a.m. crash. 19-Car Pileup Closes Parkway For Hours
Drivers sat on the Garden State Parkway for hours due to a 19-car crash that closed the northbound of the highway. While no injuries were reported, at least 19 cars were involved in the Bass River northbound crash around 5:30 p.m., authorities said. A trash-hauling tractor-trailer tipped Friday on the Route 46 ramp to the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 80 in Ridgefield Park. The driver escaped serious injury, responders said. Ends Up On Top Of Parked Car In Crash With Pickup, Sedan In Westwood Crash
No serious injuries were immediately reported in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Westwood. Firefighters had to extricate the driver of a sedan involved in the crash with a pickup truck and a MINI Cooper that plowed through a fence and a row of hedges and landed on a parked car on Old Hook Road near Emerson Road around 1:45 p.m. Borough police temporarily closed the road for an investigation and clearing of the wreckage. Route 17 in Saddle River finally reopened around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, more than 14 hours after utility lines fell across the roadway, closing it. Lyndhurst Building In Danger Of Collapse After Pickup Slams Into Storefront
A Lyndhurst building was deemed in danger of collapse after a pickup truck slammed into a storefront Saturday night. "We're concerned about a possible collapse," Police Chief James O'Connor told Daily Voice. Falling Tree Hits Car, Blocks River Road In Elmwood Park
ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- The driver was OK after a falling tree struck a vehicle in Elmwood Park during Thursday night's rainstorm, authorities said. Borough firefighters and EMS workers cut up the tree and cleared River Road at Martha Avenue after the tree fell just before 9:30 p.m. Police Chief Michael Foligno said. River Road traffic in both directions was temporarily diverted, the chief said. The driver escaped without injury, but the vehicle had to be towed, he said.
