The 28-year-old man was shot and killed last month on a Hoboken basketball court is being remembered as an aspiring clothing designer with a big heart. Christopher Garcia, of Hoboken, was found with a gunshot wound to the torso near 560 Marshall Drive around 3:25 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Jersey City Man Charged With Murder In Weekend Stabbing, Prosecutor Says
A 55-year-old man was charged with murder in a stabbing that left an unidentified man dead over the weekend, authorities said. Steven Bardsley stabbed the man in the neck near 151 Cambridge Ave., just after 10 p.m. Saturday, July 24, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The victim was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner. A Jersey City woman was charged with hiding the remains of her mother after a SWAT standoff that lasted several hours over the weekend, authorities announced Monday. Cheryl Gatling, 53, refused to let police inside of an Arlington Avenue apartment for more than three hours Saturday evening, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A 22-year-old Weehawken man was charged in the stabbing death of his 24-year-old girlfriend over the weekend, authorities said. Michelle Paola Castillo Siguencia was found lifeless on a bathroom floor of a Hudson Avenue apartment in Weehawken around 6 p.m. Saturday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in the killing of a 40-year-old Jersey City man. The unidentified teen has been charged with murder and is facing several weapons offenses in connection with the death of Benjamin Stone, who was found dead in a Storms Avenue apartment on April 27, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. An 84-year-old woman died and a firefighter was injured in a Jersey City house fire Thursday morning, authorities said. Firefighters were met by heavy flames and smoke when responding to 270 Clerk St., around 10:45 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. An 11-year-old girl and her 8-month-old baby brother died when she went in to try to rescue him from a fire that broke out at their Jersey City home Wednesday evening, authorities said.
