Frances Tiafoe's 2023 US Open run ended in an upset on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Tiafoe, who is ranked No. 10 in the world, fell to 20-year-old Shelton in the quarterfinals 6-2 3-6 7-6(7) 6-2, in Queens, NY.

The match was historic in that it was the first time two Black men faced off, and that Shelton's win makes him the youngest American to reach the Open semis since Andy Roddick in 2003. He'll face Novak Djokovic on Friday, Sept. 8.

Shoplifting Near Lyndhurst Police HQ Dooms NYC Pair
Shoplifting near a police station is questionable at best. At worst, it's kinda dumb.
Lyndhurst police were instantly at a nearby Valley Brook Avenue business after two men fled with nearly $1,000 worth of toiletries and groceries.
Searching the parking lot and surrounding area, they were pointed to a nearby restaurant that a witness saw one of them enter, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said.
Sure enough, the officers found -- and arrested -- both Renaldo Mason, 24, of Queens and Davon Getten, 28, of the Bronx, the lieutenant said.

Ridgewood Bank Teller Flags ID Thief Trying To Cash $26,000 Check: Police
A Chinese national from Queens was arrested by Ridgewood police when he tried to cash a $26,000 check in another person's name with one of dozens of bogus IDs he was carrying, authorities said.
A teller at the East Ridgewood Avenue bank flagged down an officer Tuesday afternoon, May 23, while Lin X. Guan, 51, was still inside, Detective Capt. Forest Lyons said.
Police charged Guan with ID theft, trafficking personal information -- more than 50 items, with multiple victims -- and theft by unlawful taking.
