Mother, Daughter Found Dead In Home Off Route 17 Identified
A 56-year-old woman and her 31-year-old daughter were found dead Monday, June 20, in the elder woman's East Rutherford home down the block from the borough police station. A man said to have been the former spouse of the property owner apparently found the bodies of Nancy Marie Jocks and her daughter, Alexis O'Boyle of Woodland Park, in the rented unit off southbound Route 17 just past Route 120, barely two miles from MetLife Stadium. Four Route 3 Lanes Shut Down After Passing Crane Hits Overhead Signs
A crane clipped the bottom of a group of signs that hang over Route 3 in East Rutherford on Monday, scattering debris and closing lanes. The bucket-type truck hit the signs for Route 120 East Rutherford/American Dream and the Meadowlands racetrack and football training facility around 3 p.m. Police immediately closed the exit and two eastbound lanes. Bogota Bicyclist, 58, Killed In Route 3 Crash
A bicyclist was struck and killed in the middle lane of eastbound Route 3 in East Rutherford late Saturday, responders said. Tony Perez, 58, of Bogota was pronounced dead after he was struck by a vehicle shortly after 11:30 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Phillip Taormina said. "In an attempt to avoid striking Mr. Perez, the operator of the vehicle applied the brakes, swerved and was struck from behind by a second passing vehicle," Taormina said.
