A proposed bill to install panic alarms and red emergency lights in New Jersey schools honors former Woodcliff Lake teen Alyssa Alhadeff who died in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Fla. The bill (A-764) was passed Monday by the Assembly Education Committee in Trenton. "Alyssa's Law" requires all public elementary and secondary schools be equipped with a panic alarm for use in a school security emergencies including evacuations, lockdowns or active shooter situations. It's what allows her to still feel close to 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff, who was killed in the Parkland massacre last month, according to a new report. An 18-year-old Nutley High School student remained jailed Saturday after authorities said he posted an "alarming" Instagram video that included images of teens shooting a handgun at a firing range along with photos of his school and students in a classroom.
