Air Canada Jet To Newark Receives Bogus Midair Threat: Port Authority PD
A threat directed toward an Air Canada flight brought a major police presence to Newark Airport Monday, Feb. 19, officials said. Port Authority police and its canine unit responded to EWR Terminal A at around noon after airport police received the report of the threat, a PAPD spokesperson said. The plane landed at EWR Terminal A without incident, and all passengers deplaned safely with no reported injuries. At 2:52 p.m. PAPD and its canine unit fully cleared the aircraft and normal operations resumed. The incident is under investigation.

Not everyone is prepared to react in a moment of crisis, which Samantha Perez-Gora said made it more than worthwhile to participate in the Port Authority Citizens Police Academy. The second annual PAPD citizens academy included presentations on the department's history, duties and functions -- highlighting, among other things, de-escalation techniques, counterterrorism measures and emergency medical response. : Port Authority Responders Rescue Dog Caught At Bottom Of Escalator
A dog’s rear paw had gotten caught at the bottom of a Journal Square PATH station escalator when his yelps and owner’s desperate screams brought Port Authority Police Officers Anthony Manfredini and Matthew Maiello. Manfredini quickly hit the escalator’s emergency stop button while Maiello summoned an emergency service’s unit at the Jersey City transportation hub, PAPD Spokeswoman Lenis Valens said. First Responders Rush To Rescue Bayonne Bridge Jumper
Responders rushed to rescue a person who jumped from the Bayonne Bridge just before 2 p.m. Saturday. Arriving units found individuals on a tug boat in the Kill van Kull pulling the victim aboard, located just east of the bridge, Bayonne Fire Department Deputy Chief Bill Bartos said. Bayonne Fire Boat Marine 1 pulled up aside the vessel and transferred the person to their boat. Firefighters provided medical care on the person as they headed towards the boat launch at 16th Street Park, where they were met by EMS.
