Bergenfield High School Principal Jim Fasano Dies
The Bergenfield Public School District is mourning the loss of its high school principal, James "Jim" Fasano. "Our high school will never be the same without him," Superintendent Christopher Tully said in a letter dated Thursday, June 27, less than a week after the last day of the school year. Tully did not provide a cause of death but did say that it was sudden. The Go Bergenfield District Alliance will kick off the second “Food and Fright Festival” on Friday, October 26 with the start of the Food Crawl that will run through Sunday, November 4. The ten-day food event will offer $5 deals and menu options from 25 restaurants along with the opportunity to win over $1,000 in prizes. A German global discount supermarket chain that purchased a long-vacant ACME in North Jersey has a stellar reputation with a business plan that's anything but, according to a recent report. Lidl -- which closed a deal on Bergenfield's former ACME market earlier this week -- had plans to open nearly 100 stores between Summer 2017 and Summer 2018. A $12 million renovation to Bergenfield's 93-year-old Borough Hall is set to begin in September, according to a new report by NorthJersey.com. Hackensack's RSC Architects has been authorized by the council to come up with a basic design for the North Washington Ave. facility this week detailing a complete renovation, the report says.
