Get In, New Jersey: Local High School Is Backdrop In New 'Mean Girls' Movie
New Jersey is doing its part to make "fetch" happen once again. A new musical adaptation of "Mean Girls" is hitting theaters on Friday, Jan. 12, and many parts of the movie were shot in the Garden State. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) estimates the reboot of the high school comedy will generate about $36 million for the state. Meadowlands Racetrack Pioneer Joseph A. DeFrank Dies, 87
Joseph A. DeFrank Jr. (DeFrancesco) of Lake Pleasant, NY — who helped pioneer North Jersey's famed Meadowlands Racetrack — passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 12. He was 87 years old. Born in Holley, NY on Aug. 27, 1933 to Joseph Sr. and Florence DeFrank, he was a proud member of the U.S. Army and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 529 Holley. 'Rotten Egg' Smell Continues To Plague Kearny Residents
Residents in Kearny have complained for months about a strong, unpleasant smell occasionally wafting through the town, with the aroma more powerful on some days than others. Saturday and Sunday seemed to be especially bad. Over the weekend Kearny residents described a smell like rotten eggs that was so potent, it forced people to close their windows.
