Police have identified the 44-year-old driver arrested following a crash Wednesday morning, Sept. 18 in Ridgewood. Julie Ferrauiola, of Haworth, has been charged with DUI, DUI through a school crossing with children present, and use of a handheld phone, and traffic on marked lanes in connection with the E. Ridgewood Avenue crash, court records show. Unfounded Threat Clears Ridgewood Private School
A private school in Ridgewood was evacuated following what police said was an unfounded threat. The unspecified threat came in via email to The Holmstead School, a non-profit extended-year middle/high school on Hope Street, on Monday, Sept. 12, Capt. Forest Lyons said. Two Bergen County sheriff's dogs were brought in, along with a member of the sheriff's Bomb Squad, to help village police completely search the building, the captain said. There's no emergency too big or small for firefighters -- including Ridgewood's bravest, who rescued a reluctant house cat from a tree. No kitten. Theo chased a bird up the Hope Street tree Thursday morning (surprise!), bringing members of Engine Company 35 and Tower Ladder 36. The glamourpuss was skittishly unreachable at first, clearly, unamewsed as village Firefighter Kurt Harba climbed a 35-foot ladder held by company colleagues.
