Man Stabbed, Blood-Covered Suspect Seized In Englewood A homeless drenched in blood and holding a knife was captured by Englewood police after he stabbed a fellow squatter in a vacant building, authorities said. The 44-year-old victim was expected to survive cuts to his hands, elbow, shoulder and foot, as well as an injury to the bridge of the nose, following the attack shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, Detective Lt. Police were called to  Church Square Park in the early morning hours for the unresponsive man, Hoboken Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was not believed to have been suspicious.

Body Recovered From Passaic River Authorities were trying to identify the body of an apparently homeless man who drowned Saturday in the Passaic River. Witnesses said the man didn't know how to swim, ignored friends' insistence that he not go in, then went under in a deep pond on the Clifton side of the river, Clifton Deputy Fire Chief Craig Hopkins said. Rescue teams from Clifton, Passaic and Wallington put boats in the water before a Bergen County Office of Emergency Management drone helped locate the body south of the Dundee Dam. Both sides of the highway remained closed for several hours.
