DWI Crash: Driver Arrested After Head-On Collision In Fair Lawn A driver was led away in handcuffs following a head-on Thanksgiving Eve crash in Fair Lawn. Members of the Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps took two occupants to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center's Wayne facility after the Nissan Rogue and Honda CRV collided at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Wagaraw Road around 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22. The extent of their injuries couldn't be determined. The Nissan driver who was arrested didn't appear injured. Fair Lawn firefighters also responded. Belfi's Towing removed the vehicles. Boyd A. The blaze broke out in a garage on Summer Street behind the homeowner's Lafayette Avenue residence around 10 p.m. Friday, April 29. Firefighters split the work dousing the garage fire and protecting the rear of the home. Pickup Rolls In Route 208 Crash A driver was hospitalized as a precaution after his pickup truck rolled Monday on Route 208 in Hawthorne. The pickup, which rolled after contacting another vehicle, was towed following the crash between Utter and Van Winkle avenues on the northbound side. The driver made it out under his own steam before members of the Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps put him in a neck brace and took him to a nearby hospital. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue. Before his first birthday, AJ had successful tumor resection surgery, the first of several operations. He’s also undergone chemotherapy that kept him hospitalized several months. The 6:20 a.m. crash on Goffle Road took out a tree and a speed limit sign. Goffle Road was closed in both directions between Rock Road and Route 208. A flatbed tow truck removed the vehicle.
